It Really Is - Everything Everywhere All At Once

Like the title of the film, their filmmaking style manages to feel like everything, everywhere, all at once. Funny and serious, poignant and irreverent, joyous and melancholic. If the rest of Hollywood would take swings half as bold as these guys, we’d have a much more intriguing movie landscape.

As Rough As It Gets - Uncut Gems

The Safdies’ vision is so refined and distilled that it is hard not to be sucked into this world. Like an exquisite meal where you get something stuck in your teeth, at the very least, I can assure you you won’t forget it.

Drown Me, Please - The Lighthouse

In this case, its “timeless” themes serve as a euphemism for generic. Boiled down and captured properly, this is just another movie. Remove the showy elements and art school choices, and there is literally no reason to see this.

An Even Grungier Juno - Lady Bird

There’s a world in which this movie is made without Saoirse Ronan and it’s not one I want to live in. She single-handedly takes Lady Bird from being a character I had no use for to one with just enough complexity to keep me engaged. 

Review: It Comes At Night

Most of the fear-inducing elements come from what these characters see and don't see when they look into the eyes of the other characters. If it can even be properly classified as horror, Schultz makes clear, the real horror is us.

Review: Moonlight

To say this film is a masterpiece would be an understatement. Masterpieces are the result of all involved being at their very best. With every crisp shot, immaculately delivered line and emotive thread in the breathtaking tapestry, that the people involved are at their very best quickly becomes a foregone conclusion.
